State police in Hazleton said one person has died as a result of a fire that broke out Wednesday morning in the 2200 block of Hill Road in Effort, Chestnuthill Township. The fire was reported shortly after 7 a.m.
Police said one person died inside the home. According to reports from the scene, children jumped out the rear window.
Their conditions are not available at this time.
One person was flown from the scene to a medical center.
Firefighters are on scene from West End, Polk, Blue Ridge, Kunkletown, Jackson, Tunkhannock and Pocono Township fire departments.
The Troop N Fern Ridge Criminal Investigation Unit is on scene with the Troop N fire marshal.
Police said updated information will be released at a later time.
