Motorcyclist injured in W. Penn crash

A motorcyclist was seriously injured Sunday evening in a crash in West Penn Township. The incident occurred around 6 p.m. along Route 895 about a half-mile west of Route 309. The biker apparently lost control entering the berm impacting with and snapping off a utility pole.

The victim was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics before being transported to a Lehigh Valley area trauma center.

West Penn firefighters and fire police maintained traffic control at the scene shutting down the roadway. West Penn Township police are investigating the incident.
