Trinity happenings
First Saturday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins at 5 p.m. Holy Communion is served by continuous line with wafer placed in your open hand, and wine or grape juice in a small cup. Gluten-free wafers are available to those with allergy issues.
Sunday worship with Holy Communion begins at 9:30 a.m. Included in this time is sending with prayers of ELCA Churchwide Assembly delegate Al Sellers. Masks are no longer required, however, if you are not fully vaccinated, you are encouraged to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth for your own protection and safety. Please bring a snack to share. The Rev. Nancy L. Moore presides. Vicar Sarah Moore assists.

Trinity member Sellers is among the 24 delegates elected to serve Northeastern PA synod led by Bishop Christopher deForest. The 2022 ELCA Churchwide Assembly meets under the theme “Embody the Word” Aug. 8-12. Sellers is to participate with more than 900 others at the Greater Columbus Convention Center, Ohio, as they are involved in plenary discussions, elect a vice president, and make decisions about the work of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Live video of the assembly will be accessible Aug. 8-12 at https://elca.org/CWA-2022. The ELCA YouTube channel will have live and recorded sessions available to view.
The Trinity Thrift Store is open without reservations. Shopping and drop-off hours are Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours, limited to five bags or boxes. The Food Pantry continues to be open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting and precautionary measures in place. Residents in need who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive prepackaged supplemental food items. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.
For those desiring to schedule a baptism or seek membership at Trinity, please contact the church office to register for the 11:30 a.m. instruction sessions for August. Baptismal guidelines are held on the third Sunday monthly. Overview for prospective new members is held on the fourth Sunday with Pastor Moore.
Trinity Lutheran Church was built in 1873. Plans are forming to celebrate this milestone throughout 2023. You are invited to contribute ideas at a planning meeting following worship Aug. 21.
