State police at Schuylkill Haven — crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers on Schuylkill County roadways.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 8:14 a.m. on July 22 along Route 895 in South Manheim Township.

Troopers said Matthew J. Dewald, 35, of Pottsville, was driving a 2008 Scion westbound when he fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle went onto the right berm when Dewald woke up. He attempted to correct the vehicle but overcorrected causing the vehicle to travel across the eastbound lane and into a ditch along the berm.

Dewald was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed. He was cited for the crash.

• A two-vehicle crash occurred at 2:08 a.m. on July 12 along Route 61 in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Jared J. Bachert, 18, of Orwigsburg, driving a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was southbound and turning left and failed to yield the right of way to a 2019 Freightliner tractor-trailer operated by Michael A. Awdakimow, 52, of Mahanoy City. The Jeep struck the truck.

No one was injured. Both vehicles had to be towed.

Bachert was cited for vehicle turning left.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 12:40 p.m. on July 22 along Route 61 in North Manheim Township.

Troopers said John P. McGlynn, 29, of Schuylkill Haven, was driving a 2011 Hyundai Genesis southbound when his vehicle drifted to the left and struck a concrete jersey divider.

McGlynn displayed signs of impairment and consented to a blood drawn. The vehicle had to be towed. No injuries were reported.

McGlynn is facing a DUI charge.
