The Palmerton Police Department is the latest recipient of a donation from a Palmerton organization.
Members of Crusaders for a Cause on Wednesday donated patrol rifle optic electronic scopes for the borough police department’s training rifles.
Christina Obrecht, president, Crusaders for a Cause, said the donation was for $1,000, as they cost $500 apiece.
Additionally, the organization presented the police department with a $200 check for its National Night Out program.
National Night Out will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the borough park.
It will feature an emergency vehicle display, car seat safety check, and an opportunity for the community to interact with its first responders.
Obrecht said the funds were raised from its 16th annual spring carnival held in May in the borough park.
“The police need it; they’ve been doing an excellent job,” Obrecht said. “It’s for all they do.”
Borough police Chief Tim Kromer said the department has always been grateful to the organization for its support.
“They’ve always been great; we really appreciate it,” Kromer said. “It’s a much more effective tool for the police department.”
