Undercover drug buy nets two arrests

Lehigh Township Police have charged a Lehighton man and a Slatington woman with drug dealing after an undercover operation that took place in December near the Walnutport Shopping Mall.

Curtis Lee Margle, 32, of Lehighton, is charged with two counts of manufacture, delivery or possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of a controlled substance, and one count of criminal use of a communication facility, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license is suspended for a DUI-related offense and driving without a license.

Lauren Bree Sampson, 36, of Slatington, is facing two counts of delivery or possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

In an affidavit, officer Jonathan Roth said in December he developed a confidential source that was providing information regarding drug activity in the township.

In February, police arranged for the confidential informant to purchase methamphetamine from Margle and the setup took place on Feb. 28 in the parking lot near the Auto Zone store in the shopping mall.

Police identified Sampson as the owner of the vehicle used during the sale and said she was in the passenger seat and Margle was driving. Police said the paraphernalia sold to the informant later tested positive as methamphetamine.

During the investigation it was learned Margle’s driver’s license is suspended for prior DUI convictions.
