A Slatington man has been bilked out of a large amount of cash.

State police at Bethlehem said on July 13 at 9:07 a.m. troopers responded to a residence along Kingstead Drive, in Washington Township, Lehigh County, for a call regarding a theft.

On scene it was discovered that the victim, 68, met an unknown person on line, via a Facebook single’s chat.

From Oct. 21, 2021, to April 11, the unknown individual convinced the victim to purchase numerous gift cards and send him/her their pin numbers.

The total amount lost by the victim is $6,600.
