Faith Alive Church

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton (Bowmanstown), holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin.

At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m. and then traditional service at 11 a.m. You can worship in person or in the parking lot by tuning the radio station to 104.3 FM or Facebook Live.

Every Wednesday at 7 p.m. is prayer and praise.

July mission is Peaceful Knights. It’s a not-for-profit corporation formed to help those in need to have temporary safe shelter and access to local organizations that provide assistance.

Band concert

The band concert in the Palmerton Borough Park on Sunday will be The Little Brass Band of the Lehigh Valley beginning at 7 p.m. weather permitting. Please bring a lawn chair or blanket.

The following Sunday, Aug. 7, the concert will be by the Hazleton Band from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Sunday school Picnic

The Annual Sunday school Picnic at the Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church will take place in the picnic grove on Aug. 6 (raindate Aug. 7). The picnic starts at noon, with service at 2 p.m. Guest speaker is the Rev. Dr. Dean Frey (puppet ministry).

Afternoon activities include Kiddie Cake Walk and Fish Pond at 3 p.m. Evening activities include Cake Walk for all ages at 6:30 p.m., followed by the Raffle Drawing. Live music by Last One Standing starting at 4 p.m. Great food, fellowship, and fun for all.

UCC

Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville will hold it annual community church picnic on Aug. 13 from noon to 9 p.m. in the Church Grove. Rain date is Aug. 14.

Music is by the Main Street Cruisers and they will perform at 3 p.m., 5 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.

Great food is available for purchase and at noon the church ladies and gentlemen will be ready to serve and greet you.

The free kiddie cake walk and games will start at 1 p.m. A corn hole tournament will be at 3 p.m.

While there check out the Tricky Tray and raffle ticket drawings. The drawings will be at 9 p.m.

At 6:30 p.m. will be Trachsville’s Legendary Cake Walk. Bring a lawn chair and spend the day. You will enjoy great food, great fun, and great entertainment.

Jerusalem United Church of Christ holds Sunday Worship Service in the picnic grove at 9 a.m. You can also remain in your vehicle in the parking lot and listen to the service on radio station 95.5 or watch live on Facebook. The service is also posted on the website after the service has concluded. Supply Pastor Don Quayle leads the worship.

Collect Cans

The Aquashicola Volunteer Fire Company, Little Gap Road, has a trailer at the company grounds to collect aluminum cans and crushed cans. All support is appreciated.

Jerusalem UCC in Trachsville is also collecting cans. They have a shed in their church grove. There are two deposit slots: one for uncrushed and one for crushed. Donations are appreciated.

Kids for the Community

Kids for the Community announces that there is still time to donate to the Christmas in July toy drive. Toys can be dropped off at the Little Bombers Daycare, 180 Delaware Ave., Palmerton or 783 Princeton Ave., Palmerton. There is a drop box on the porch of both locations. They are collecting until the end of July.

Cardboard and newspapers

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton takes cardboard and newspapers. It is their fundraiser to help with the upkeep of the church. If the door is closed, it means they are full and just waiting for the tractor trailer truck to come that Saturday to pick it up. The chruch will be accepting cardboard and newspapers donations the following days.

There is no need to break up the cardboard, but it would be appreciated.

Palmerton National Night Out

The Palmerton Police Department is hosting its first National Night Out campaign. National Night Out is Aug. 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Palmerton Borough Park.

It will feature an emergency vehicle display, car seat safety check, and an opportunity for the community to interact with its first responders. All citizens of the Palmerton area are invited to come to the event.

Movie in the Park

The Palmerton Concourse Club will host a Movie in the Park at 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 3 in the borough park for their free summer movie. “Encanto” is this year’s Academy Award Winner for Best Animated Feature Film.

Bring along a blanket of chair as well as snacks and drinks to enjoy. All park rules apply.

Rain date is Aug. 4.

Palmerton Historical Society

PAHS will be having its annual Members/Guests Picnic on Aug. 8 at 5 p.m. This year our picnic will take place at the Walnutport Canal Pavilion (this is a change) located on Lehigh Street. The society will provide turkey barbecue, baked beans, hot dogs, rolls, paper products and beverages (including wine). Everyone is requested to bring a side dish and/or dessert to share with others. Also, we are trying to arrange for the canal museum to be open for tours. They have done a great job in restoring the canal’s history.

The society needs to know who is planning to attend and their side dish/dessert. Please call Jane Borbe at 610-597-6807 to reserve. Also, you may call the Heritage Center at 610-824-6954 and leave a message.
