Bates scatters six hits and strikes out 10, including the side in the final inning. With a bat in his hands, he smashes a solo homer in the first, and delivers an RBI double in the third. Craig Solt contributes a pair of hits and scores a run, while Ken Frantz collects two hits and an RBI. The winners also receive a pair of hits from Steve Plasko. For Lansford, Ed Shubeck finishes with two hits and two runs scored.
