Rush-Ryan Seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano Senior Citizens met on July 12 for their annual summer picnic with 40 members in attendance. A moment of silence was held in memory of Edna Fegley.

The food was prepared and served by Hess Catering. Bingo and cards were played and a Chinese auction was held.

The groups meets the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at Christ Church, Barnesville at 1 p.m.

Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Zion Lewistown

Th Rev. Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

Womens Bible Study will meet at 6:30 p.m. on July 25 at Memorial Hall.

St. Peter’s West Penn

• July 24: 10 a.m. Worship Service at West Penn Park. Vacation Bible School Closing Fundraiser Luncheon.

• July 31: 9 a.m. Worship Service with Sacrament of Baptism; 10:15 a.m. Adult Sunday school; 10:30 a.m. Helping Hands; 2 p.m. Worship Service at Heritage Hills

Zion Tamaqua

Zion United Methodist Church, 28 Reynolds Rd., Tamaqua will host a benefit concert by Lonnie and Robin Dermo on Saturday, at 6:30 p.m.

Calvary Lewistown

The Rev. Ralph Saunders will present the message at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. and Sunday evening service at 6:30 p.m. with special speaker, Adam Heisler. Wednesday prayer meeting on July 27 at 7 p.m.

Chiz Rider will present a concert on the trumpet on July 31 at 6:30 p.m.

Christmas in July

Tamaqua will celebrate Christmas in July this Saturday. There will be activities all day, along with food trucks and music.

American Hose

American Hose Co. #1 will hold a Kauffman Chicken BBQ fundraiser on Aug. 6. Tickets can be purchased from any member or online at: ahco1tamaqua.org/kauffmans-chicken-bbq.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on July 14 with 25 members in attendance. President, Mary Bittle opened the meeting with the reading “Day by Day.”

Joyce Krell, Eleanor Schmerfeld and Doris Brobst were added to the sick list. The group will hold in indoor summer picnic on Aug. 25 at the Coaldale Comples, starting at noon.

The group meets every Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Coaldale Comoplex. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Lewistown Valley Garden Club

The Lewistown Valley Garden Club will hold its next monthly meeting on July 26 in the Zion Church Social Hall, celebrating the Annual Family Picnic starting at 6 p.m. (note earlier time). Members are reminded to bring a beverage, covered dish to share and a game prize.

At the June meeting members enjoyed a program by Eleanor’s Soaps by Jean Folweiler.

Winners in the arrangement using pink flowers, first place, Evelyn Adams; second place, Mary Bridygham; Specimen, a rose: second place Cindy Sabol; third place Barb Malewski. (There was no first place)

New members are always welcome.

American Primitive

Sunday worship service is at 10:30 a.m. at American Primitive Methodist Church. The service is available at www.tamaquachurch.org and www.facebook.com/PMChurchTamaqua.

There will be no Sunday school until further notice.

Hope in the Mountains Nar-Anon Family Group meets at 57 Hunter St.
