Entertainment around the area

Local and regional venues will offer rock, country and oldies music over the next couple of weeks, in addition to music tributes spanning the decades.

For cinephiles, the Mahoning Drive-In Theater will dedicate a night to “The Blair Witch Project,” and also hold its sixth Schlock-O-Rama event. For stand-up fans, comedian John Mulaney will perform two shows in Bethlehem.

• Mike DelGuidice, 8 p.m. July 22. DelGuidice, who tours with Billy Joel, will perform with his band Big Shot. Aside from Joel, the singer-songwriter performs songs by acts such as Elton John, The Beatles and Led Zeppelin, plus a few original songs.

• Tracy Byrd, 8 p.m. July 28. A Texas native, Byrd released his self-titled debut album in 1993, with his 10th and most recent studio set, “All American Texan,” out in 2016. His biggest hit singles include “Holdin’ Heaven,” “The Keeper of the Stars” and “Ten Rounds with Jose Cuervo.”

• Buckcherry, 8 p.m. July 29. Formed in Anaheim, California, in the mid-1990s, Buckcherry released its self-titled debut album in 1999. In 2021, the rock band - whose hits include “Lit Up,” “Everything and “Sorry” - released its ninth and most recent studio set, “Hellbound.”

• Tommy James & the Shondells, 8 p.m. July 30. Formed in Niles, Michigan, the band released its debut album, “Hanky Panky,” in 1966. Aside from the latter album’s title track, the pop-rock group’s biggest hits include “I Think We’re Alone Now,” “Mony Mony” and “Crimson and Clover.”

• Larger Than Life: The Ultimate Boyband Tribute, 8 p.m. July 22. Originally started in New York, the group performs songs by acts such the Backstreet Boys, ’N Sync and New Kids On The Block, along with The Temptations, Four Seasons and the Jackson 5.

• BowieLive, 8 p.m. July 23. Formed in 2016, the David Bowie tribute act features frontman Chris Theoret. The Pittsburgh band, performs Bowie hits such as “Space Oddity,” “Changes,” “Fame” and “Rebel Rebel.”

• Ten Band, 8 p.m. July 29. Touring since 2003, the Pearl Jam tribute band appeared on AXS TV’s “Worlds Greatest Tribute Bands” in 2014.

• Bennie and the Jets: An Elton John Tribute, 8 p.m. July 30. Greg Ransom formed this band by the mid-1990s, after a hotel owner told him he sounded like Elton John.

• The Looking Glass Revue Presents: The Pink Carousel, a Classic Burlesque Show, 7 p.m. July 23. The Lehigh Valley troupe will take the audience back to a simpler time, when showgirls and starlets reigned supreme.

• A Celtic Summer Celebration: The Victors, 7 p.m. July 21. The Victors consists of family members Stephanie, James and Ethan Morykin, along with Daniel Gonzalez. As artistic director at Vic’s Jazz Loft, Gonzalez curates the jazz program and performs as the house drummer with select artists.

• L4, 7 p.m. July 28. Formerly the Last Thursday Band, L4 will play electric jazz and popular R&B tunes. The act consists of Chet Brown, Brian Bortz, Lou Czechowski and Daniel Gonzalez.

• Blueberry Festival, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 23. The event will include blueberry baked goods, samples, fresh blueberries and carnival rides, as well as a pie-eating contest at 1 and 3 p.m.

• Wine Festival, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 30. Admission includes complementary Country Junction wineglass and samples of wine from wineries such as Sorrenti Family Vineyards, Talerico Tropical, Sleepy Cat, Clever Girl, Lucchi Family Wine Cellars and Stone Lake Winery. Also during the festival, Art in the Barn will showcase local artists’ work in the Village area of Country Junction.

• Back To The Woods: The Blair Witch Project, July 24. The event will include a 35 mm screening of the 1994 film, in which three student filmmakers disappeared in the woods near Burkittsville, Maryland. Host Matt Blazi, author of “8 Days in the Woods: The Making of The Blair Witch Project,” will discuss the making of the film. The event will also include a virtual cast reunion with Heather Donahue, Josh Leonard and Mike Williams. Gates at open 6 p.m. Showtime at sundown.

• Schlock-O-Rama VI, July 29-31. The annual event celebrates vintage sci-fi and horror. “Weird Aliens!” films will screen on July 29, while “Strange Sea Beasts!” will screen July 30. On July 31, “Super Stooges Sunday” will include Three Stooges films. The event will also include themed eats, a live DJ, raffles, cosplay and more. General gates open at 6 p.m. daily. Showtime at sundown.

• John Mulaney: From Scratch, 7 and 10 p.m. July 30. An award-winning writer, Mulaney has multiple Netflix and Comedy Central specials to his credit. The actor and comedian has hosted “Saturday Night Live“ five times and began writing for the show in 2008, appearing as a “Weekend Update” correspondent and creating characters such as Stefon with Bill Hader. Mulaney, who’s also appeared on Broadway, stars opposite Andy Samberg in the Disney+ film “Chip ‘n’ Dale: Rescue Rangers.” This event will be a phone-free experience.

• Celtic Legacy, noon July 30. The McElligott School of Irish Dance will present the program, which touts that “the tallest tree in the forest was once just a little seed that held its ground.”

• Jersey Boys and Girls, 7 p.m. July 30. The Pocono Pops! will perform music from acts such as Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston and Bruce Springsteen.

• Musical Tribute to Grease, 3:30 p.m. Aug. 2 and 3. The show, a tribute to the musical “Grease” and music of the 1950s and 1960s, includes songs such as “Hopelessly Devoted to You” “Summer Nights” and “Beauty School Dropout.”

• The Full Monty, July 22 to Aug. 14. Six unemployed Buffalo steelworkers, low on both cash and prospects, decide to present a strip act at a local club after seeing their wives’ enthusiasm for a touring company of Chippendales. Adapted from the 1997 British film of the same name, this Americanized musical stage version features a book by Terrence McNally and score by David Yazbek.

• Junie B. Jones: The Musical Jr., July 29 to Aug. 13. The show, an adaptation of four of Barbara Park’s best-selling books, features sassy little diva Junie B. Jones and her adventures in first grade.
