DUI/drug cases
State police at the Lehighton barracks reported on the following cases:
• A 28-year-old Palmerton man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a traffic stop made by a trooper at 12:56 a.m. July 2 at the intersection of the Little Gap Road and Delaware Avenue in Lower Towamensing Township.
Police said he was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado that was stopped for a vehicle code violation.
• On July 12 at 3:03 a.m. a Jeep was stopped at Lehigh Avenue and Hazard Square in Jim Thorpe for a vehicle code violation. The driver, a 19-year-old man from Toms River, New Jersey, was suspected of driving under the influence of a controlled substance. Appropriate charges will be filed pending test results, troopers said.
• On July 13 at 10:29 a.m. a vehicle stop of a 2005 Ford Mustang was made at Centre and Pine streets, in Parryville, for traffic code violations. The driver, a 55-year-old woman from Palmerton, was suspected of DUI of a controlled substance. Charges will be filed, pending test results, troopers said.
• A 21-year-old Lehighton woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after police made a traffic stop at 12:39 a.m. July 1.
Police stopped the 2001 Nissan Altima for a vehicle code violation at the intersection of Interchange Road and Court Street in Franklin Township.
• A traffic stop at 10:35 p.m. June 29 resulted in a 45-year-old Effort woman being taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence.
Police stopped the 2013 Hyundai Elantra at the intersection of the Kunkletown Road and Lakeview Drive in Ross Township. Troopers said the woman showed signs of impairment.
The car was towed from the scene.
Police did not release the names of suspects.
• A Carbon County vehicle stop has led to the arrest of a Lehigh County man on drug counts.
On July 2 at 12:32 a.m. troopers stopped a 2008 Honda Accord at Pohopoco Drive and Pine Run Road, in Towamensing Township, at Beltzville State Park, for a vehicle code violation.
At the stop the driver, Engelbert Martinez, 30, of Allentown, was found in possession of suspected marijuana. Charges were filed.
Schuylkill Haven
A Schuylkill County driver is facing a driving under the influence charge.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said on July 7 at 3:44 a.m. they conducted a traffic stop of a 2002 Volkswagen at South Mill and East Railroad streets, in Saint Clair, for an equipment violation. The driver, Dorothy Foti, 56, of New Philadelphia, was found to be under the influence and subsequently arrested for DUI.
Stroudsburg
Christine Simpson, 37, of Cresco, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after a one-vehicle crash at 3:15 a.m. May 22 on Route 33 in Ross Township.
State police at Stroudsburg said she was driving a 2010 Toyota Rav4 that crashed. She was taken into custody and the vehicle was towed from the scene.
