Route 54 in Rush Township was closed Tuesday night due to a disabled tractor trailer. The incident occurred about 5:30 p.m. when the operator of the rig attempted to negotiate a narrow roadway on a hill at the intersection with Route 54 and bottomed out. The unit was only a half mile from his destination of a nearby store. Hometown firefighters and fire police maintained traffic control at the scene, shutting down the roadway and detouring traffic around the scene. State police at Frackville are investigating the incident.
