Drive-thru beverage distributor is full of ‘Barrels of Fun’
Customers come through and are served their favorite beverage without as much as lifting a finger.
It’s no wonder then why they’ve become enamored with Barrels of Fun at 234 Main St. in Slatington.
The drive-thru beverage distributor opened Oct. 1 and sells a wide array of beers, malts and seltzers.
Owner John Snowden said top sellers include 30-packs of Miller Lite, Busch, Busch Light and Coors Light.
Snowden said the beer distributor averages between 900 to 1,000 vehicles driving through per week.
He said it features a case full of beverages. There’s also adult slushy machines, snacks and tobacco products.
“Distributors can sell cases, which is a little bit more cost effective for customers,” Snowden said. “We also sell a lot of 6-packs and 12-packs, because that’s what customers like.”
But it’s the drive-thru concept that Snowden said he believes separates his business from the other conventional beer distributors.
“We offer full service,” he said. “They drive right in, place their order, we put it in the car, and they drive on out.”
That particular aspect is what Snowden said seems to appeal most of all to his customers.
“It’s about convenience,” he said. “It’s good for mothers with children in car seats.”
However, those aren’t the only perks Snowden said customers can expect as part of their experience.
“Our goal is to provide an enjoyable experience,” he said. “You’re not going into your typical beer distributor.”
Snowden said it’s that ability to cater to his customers that only adds to their pleasant adventure.
“We try to find what you need,” he said. “And if we don’t have it, we’ll try to get it for you.”
Snowden said he was looking for something different from the bookkeeping business he previously had.
“It’s hard sitting behind a desk all day,” he said. “This is something usually where people are in a good mood because they’re getting beer.”
Barrels of Fun is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
