Pleasant Valley Intermediate School has a new assistant principal.
Eighth-grade history teacher Timothy McCutchan has been selected for the position.
The school board passed the measure to change his position from middle school teacher to intermediate school assistant principal in a 5-4 vote at a special meeting on June 30. Those voting in favor of the change include: Sue Kresge, Teresa Greggo, Diane Serfass, Michael Galler and Melanie Zipp.
Those voting against it were Laura Jecker, Delbert Zacharias, Todd Kresge and Norman Burger.
McCutchan’s starting salary in the new position is $80,000.
He replaces Annette Schaffer, who came to PVI in October 2021 from the Chester County Intermediate Unit where she was a school improvement facilitator. Schaffer was hired at a salary of $83,708. Schaffer was one of the administrators named on the furlough list in April.
Superintendent James Konrad said the search was narrowed down to two candidates, but he liked that McCutchan is already employed by the school district. He said McCutchan knows the school district.
McCutchan has a bachelor’s and master’s degree in political science from Lehigh University and a master’s in secondary education, also from Lehigh University.
He began his new job on July 5.
