Carbon cyclist facing DUI count

A Carbon County motorcyclist is facing a driving under the influence charge following a crash that occurred at 9:58 p.m. on June 26 along Manor Drive in Lower Towamensing Township.

State police at Lehighton said Aaron Kunkle, 26, of Palmerton, was operating a 2012 Harley-Davidson Nightstar bike northbound when he lost control and overturned, with the bike then sliding 50 yards until it came to rest in a grassy yard at 65 Manor Drive.

Troopers said when they arrived Kunkle was found walking around the area and appeared to be injured.

A further investigation revealed he was under the influence of alcohol and had been drinking alcohol while operating his bike.

He was taken to St. Luke’s Carbon Campus, Franklin Township, where he submitted to a blood test.

The DUI charge is pending test results.
