3 dead following crash in Kidder

Three people are dead following a two-car crash early Monday morning in Kidder Township.

Troopers from Fern Ridge State Police were dispatched at 12:48 a.m. to Interstate 80, mile marker 276 Eastbound, for a motor vehicle crash.

Two vehicles, a commercial motor vehicle and a passenger van were involved, both sustaining major impact damage from the collision.

The operator of the commercial motor vehicle, a 34-year-old man from New Columbia, and two passengers of the van, a 73-year-old woman from Newark, New Jersey, and a 36-year-old man from Passaic, New Jersey, were found to be deceased.

Responding troopers provided medical assistance to numerous passengers before EMS arriving.

The operator of the passenger van was suspected to be under the influence of alcohol.

All surviving passengers were transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley for medical treatment.

The names of the deceased individuals will be released at a later date pending next of kin notification.

The crash is still under investigation and more details will be released when available.

Also assisting on scene were the Troop N Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Specialist Unit, Troop N Forensic Services Unit, Lake Harmony Fire Department, Albrightsville Fire Department, Lake Harmony EMS, White Haven EMS, and Pocono Mountain Regional EMS.
