Woman slumped in car faces multiple drug charges

Alisen Vanger, 33, of Tamaqua, was found slumped behind the wheel of a running vehicle filled with drugs and drug paraphernalia on June 23, Tamaqua police said.

Police were called to the Speedway gas station on Route 309 at 3:10 p.m. and woke Vanger, who had the car in drive. She eventually failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Inside the vehicle, police finding 24.3 grams of suspected methamphetamine; 120 small wax bags containing suspected heroin or fentanyl; a scale, $293, two cellphones, 1.3 grams of a white powder in a clear bag, 185 empty wax bags labeled “Ferragamo,” pills, a cut straw, 28 hypodermic needles, Q-tips and rubber bands.

Vanger was taken to a St. Luke’s Miners Hospital for a blood test. On the way to the hospital, she told police that the money was from a $50,000 lawsuit that she recently won. She tested positive for methamphetamine and morphine/fentanyl.

She was arraigned before District Judge David Platchko, of Port Carbon, on charges of possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; unlawful possession of a controlled substance; possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct. Platchko set bail at $50,000 straight cash. Court records show that she was able to post bail.
