Phillips commissioned into U.S. Air Force

Jonathan P. Phillips Jr., son of Jonathan P. Phillips and Daun L. Corse-Phillips, Orwigsburg, was commissioned into the United States Air Force as a second lieutenant at a May 20 ceremony held on Independence Mall in Philadelphia. His grandfather, Capt. Chester C. Corse, AGC, administered the oath of office. Phillips graduated from La Salle University the week prior to the commissioning ceremony.

A 2018 graduate of Blue Mountain High School, Phillips served as a cadet in the Philadelphia regional Air Force ROTC Detachment 750 headquartered at Saint Joseph’s University. He held membership in both the Honor Guard and Arnold Air Society - the Air Force ROTC professional honorary service organization. He earned Arnold Air Society Squadron Member of the Semester honors in fall 2021 and Detachment Cadet of the Month honors in November 2018. He will undertake Undergraduate Air Battle Manager Training at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida.

Phillips graduated cum laude from La Salle University with a major in history and minors in business administration and criminal justice. He made the university dean’s list in multiple semesters and was a member of La Salle’s club swimming team and club ultimate frisbee team.
