The former Baer Silk Mill at Seventh and Bridge streets in Lehighton, which hasn’t been used as a mill for more than a decade, is being converted into a multipurpose gymnasium by its new owner, Keith “Jake” Boyer.

Operator of Jake’s Gym in the former Kirkendall Grocery Store, South Seventh Street, Lehighton, Boyer plans to close that facility and have the equipment in it relocated to the new site later this month.

The new gym will have a basketball court, racquetball court, a weightlifting room, exercise mats and a universal gym.
