Eldred supervisors honor teen who achieves Eagle Scout
The Eldred Township supervisors honored a local teenager Wednesday night who recently achieved the Eagle Scout rank.
Supervisors’ Chairman Gary Hoffman presented a certificate of recognition to Brian Rogers for his accomplishment.
“The board of supervisors of Eldred Township offer its sincerest congratulation on your achievement in earning the rank of Eagle Scout. This achievement demonstrates the firm commitment to completing a task, and firm resolve to service that is most commendable,” Hoffman said.
Rogers did a variety projects for Miracles Happen Thrift Shoppe on Ann Street in Stroudsburg. He scraped off old paint and repainted, did some basic landscaping, and installed anti-slip treads on the stairs.
The thrift shop is the former Driebe Freight Station and is owned by the Monroe County Historical Society, Rogers said. The Zion United Church of Christ is leasing the building for the Miracles Happen Thrift Shoppe.
Rogers said he wanted to achieve Eagle Scout because it is the highest honor in the Scouts.
“I just wanted to be a part of that,” he said.
He’s been a member of the Scouts since he was in first grade, his mother, Ann Rogers, said.
His father, David Rogers, said, “We are extremely proud of everything he has accomplished. When he puts his mind to it, he can accomplish just about anything.”
Rogers is a member of the Pleasant Valley High School Class of 2022 and just graduated on June 3. He plans to go on to Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport to pursue an associate degree in automated manufacturing technology. The college is an affiliate of Penn State University.
