A Schuylkill County man was jailed on June 9 on a charge of intimidation of a witness, a felony 1.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said at 6:30 p.m. along Broad Drive in Washington Township, Robert W. Miller, 45, of Pine Grove, threatened a 17-year-old girl with a firearm in an attempt to prevent her from disclosing any information about sexual assaults that have been occurring over a span of multiple years.
Miller was taken into custody and arraigned by on-call District Judge James Reily, of Pottsville. He was committed to the county prison after failing to post $75,000 straight cash bail. He is facing charges of aggravated assault - attempt to cause or cause bodily injury with a deadly weapon, a felony 2; and misdemeanor counts of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, corruption of a minor, terroristic threats and a summary offense of harassment.
Court records indicate a bond service posted bail for him and he later released from custody. Court records also indicate Miller has been charged with 31 criminal counts including rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault and indecent assault involving the victim in the intimidation case. Bail was set at $250,000 straight cash. That bail was also posted by a bonding company.
