June 10, 1978 - Scott Hoerner’s three-run double in the top of the seventh inning lifts Northwestern to a 3-1 victory over DYC (Downtown Youth Center) in Lehigh Valley Legion action. DYC pitcher Tom Caffrey had retired 14 batters in a row before Northwestern’s Steve Metzger and Scott Hunsicker both single to lead off the seventh. After two strikeouts, a hit batter loads the bases and sets the stage for Hoerner. Metzger scatters seven hits and pitches scoreless ball over the final five innings to gain the win.
