Kunkletown man charged with assaulting woman

A Kunkletown man has been charged with assaulting a woman while she was in the shower.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Eddie Ortiz of the Pennsylvania State Police Lehighton barracks, in the case against David Frantz:

At 2:16 p.m. May 24, Trooper Charles Inserra and Ortiz were dispatched to a home in the 700 block of Carney Road in Polk Township for a welfare check of an individual at the residence.

Upon arrival, they made contact with the victim, who said that she was assaulted by Frantz, 59, while she was taking a shower.

The woman said Frantz used forced entry to gain access through a window into the residence, and she and Frantz argued, before Frantz struck her in the face while she was in the shower.

Frantz then grabbed her by the throat.

The victim said that Frantz fled the scene before troopers arrived.

Troopers canvassed the area, and Frantz’s residence, in an attempt to locate him but were unsuccessful.

Frantz faces charges on two counts of simple assault, and one count each of burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, and harassment.

He is currently incarcerated in the Monroe County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 monetary bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing June 17 before District Judge Colleen Mancuso of Brodheadsville.
