Trinity happenings

Sunday worship with Holy Communion at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., begins at 9:30 a.m. Holy Communion is served by continuous line with wafer placed in your open hand, and wine or grape juice in a small cup. Gluten-free wafers are available to those with allergy issues. Included in the worship is dedication of the restored steeple and bell. In addition, there will be farewell and Godspeed to retiring Minister of Music Susan Lovejoy. The Trinity Praise Band provides instrumental and vocal selections.

Masks are no longer required, however, if you are not fully vaccinated, wearing a mask over the nose and mouth is encouraged. A reservation-only retirement luncheon follows completion of the worship in Luther Hall. The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Vicar Sarah Moore assists.

Sunday church school sessions and youth group meetings are on a summer break.

The Trinity Thrift Store is open without reservations. Shopping and drop-off hours are Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours, limited to five bags or boxes. The Food Pantry continues to be open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting and precautionary measures in place. Residents in need who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive prepackaged supplemental food items. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

The Northeastern PA. Synod assembly is meeting online Friday/Saturday, June 10-11. The theme: “Gaining Strength, Stronger Together.” You are invited to tune in by pressing the “Assembly 2022” link at https://nepasynod.org/assembly.

For those desiring to schedule a baptism or seek membership at Trinity, please contact the church office to preregister for the 11:30 a.m. instruction sessions for June. Baptismal guidelines are held on the third Sunday, overview for prospective new members is held the fourth Sunday with Pastor Moore.

Looking ahead is recognition of students graduated from high schools and institutions of higher learning during the June 19 worship time.

Community Vacation Bible School for students pre-K through sixth grade is Aug. 2-4, 6-8 p.m. Registration is free. Please contact the church office for information. In addition, volunteer opportunities are available.
