Group donates to 5 emergency response organizations

The Sons of the American Legion Post 173 in Tamaqua donated $200 to each of the five borough emergency response organizations.

“We decided to give back funds from some of our fundraisers to the local first responders,” said Brian Ouly, post adjutant.

“Fire companies and rescue squads rely on benefits themselves so we thought it would be nice to donate to them.”

Checks were presented to the Citizens, South Ward, East End and American Hose fire companies, along with the Tamaqua Rescue Squad.

It marked the first time for such a presentation.

Ouly said the post holds cheesesteak sales and raffles as fundraisers.
