Weatherly Borough Council agreed to sell the borough’s old reservoir property to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Weatherly Council was unanimous in accepting an offer from the DCNR at its regular council meeting on May 23.
The old reservoir property, located in a remote corner of Banks Township, is now surrounded by state-owned property that is to be preserved as state forest. The DCNR offered $30,000 for the 20.6-acre site.
The coal car at the Weatherly Museum site needs to be moved during the final remediation of the property.
After a discussion that explored and dismissed the idea of getting rid of the car, council voted to keep the car and move it during the construction.
The decision as to where to put it once the work is complete was left to a future meeting.
