Several residents of Mahoning Township’s tiny Ashtown section showed a united front in opposition to the proposed plans for a Walmart Store along Mall Road and Route 443, addressing the Mahoning Township supervisors during their monthly meeting.

The residents said the narrow Ashtown roadway at that site is already too heavily traveled and overcongested, saying the store would create unnecessary traffic problems in the neighborhood.

Supervisors Tim Eckhart and Dawn Blocker voiced support for the proposal, citing the need for increased jobs and added revenue in the township.
