A Lehigh County man admitted in Carbon County court this week to assaulting a police officer.
Todd Lindenmoyer, 43, of Whitehall, pleaded guilty before Judge Steven R. Serfass to one count each of simple assault, resisting arrest and criminal mischief. In a plea bargain with the district attorney’s office, a felony 2 count of aggravated assault was dropped.
Lindenmoyer was arrested for an incident on May 26, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Lehighton. Lehighton police responded to the emergency room area of the hospital after receiving communication from the county communication center that Palmerton police were at the hospital for a man with a mental health issue.
When Lehighton officers arrived, Lindenmoyer became unruly and attempted to leave the ER area despite warnings from officers to remain. He then punched Palmerton officer Brian Stern in the face. As officers struggled to get Lindenmoyer under control, he kept attempting to strike Stern. He also punched two holes in a wall at the hospital.
Serfass accepted the plea, but deferred sentencing, ordering the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.
