Sunday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins at 9:30 a.m. Included in this time is Service of Healing, Blessing of Prayer Shawls, and Dedication of Quilts destined for Lutheran World Relief. Masks are no longer required, however, if you are not fully vaccinated, you are encouraged to wear a mask covering the nose and mouth for your own protection and safety. Coffeehouse fellowship follows the worship service in Luther Hall. The Rev. Nancy L. Moore presides. Vicar Sarah Moore assists.
The Service of Healing with prayers are said for those to help ease one’s emotional, physical and spiritual burdens to assist and cope with daily living. Prayer shawls are handmade by volunteers, and are to be used in times of joy or sorrow and ordinary times as a form of comfort during daily faith practices. The prayer shawls are available at no cost and may serve as a gift to a loved one. The mission quilts expresses love to neighbors in need. Quilts can be used as warm bedding, simple tents or floor coverings.

Sunday Church School classes begins at 10:45 a.m. for students ages 3 through sixth grade. Face masks are strongly encouraged for the protection of those attending. Catechetical classes for students in seventh and eighth grades take place at this time. These are the “Last Sundae” classes before the summer break. The Rite of Confirmation for eighth-grade students is June 5.
The Trinity Thrift Store is open without reservations. Shopping and drop-off hours are Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours, limited to five bags or boxes. The Food Pantry continues to be open Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (and third Tuesday from 5:30-7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting and precautionary measures in place. Residents in need who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive prepackaged supplemental food items. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.
A 24-member bicycling team from the University of Illinois are pedaling to Lehighton from Clinton, New Jersey, today. The Illini4000 are cycling across America, final destination is San Francisco in August. This marks the 14th year for the team documenting the American cancer experience, and raising funds for their designated cancer research and their list of beneficiaries supporting those affected with cancer. Please consider being in attendance to welcome and greet the team as they arrive between 4-6 p.m. at the Lehighton Outdoor Center on Lehigh Drive, Lehighton, before retiring for the evening at the church. Their next leg on Thursday takes them to Milton.
