Woman strikes state trooper following Kidder traffic stop

A district judge has held charges against a Wilkes-Barre woman for court after striking a state police trooper in the chest following a traffic stop.

The Pennsylvania State Police, Fern Ridge barracks conducted a traffic stop on a gray 2008 Subaru Impreza traveling 89 mph in a posted 65 mph speed limit zone on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township at 2:16 p.m. May The driver, Brayan Fer Fuentes Mena, 43, had a warrant for failure to appear out of Luzerne County.

Trooper Jeremy Kenosky began to take him into custody when his mother, Ana Ubely Mena got out and approached Kenosky.

Ana Ubely Mena continuously failed to comply with Kenosky’s orders to return to the vehicle. As Kenosky began to approach her to take her into custody, she struck him in the chest.

A brief struggle ensued, during which time Ana Ubely Mena actively resisted arrest.

Fuentes Mena faces charges of aggravated assault; simple assault; harassment; disorderly conduct; and resisting arrest.

She is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 monetary bail.
