Bognet in lead in the 8th Congressional district

Republican Jim Bognet is leading the contest in the 8th Congressional District. He has 28,062 votes for the nomination to face incumbent Democrat Matt Cartwright in November’s general election for the newly realigned 8th Congressional District seat.

Retired State Trooper Mike Marsicano garnered 12,855 unofficial votes in Tuesday’s primary.

Cartwright is unopposed in the primary.

The 8th Congressional District includes all of Lackawanna, Pike and Wayne counties and parts of Luzerne and Monroe counties, including Chestnuthill Township and part of Ross Township.

Bognet, 46, of Hazle Township, grew up working for my family’s construction company digging ditches and pouring concrete before graduating from Penn State.

He started his own small business to help firms with communications issues.
