State police at Frackville
State police at Frackville reported on the following incidents investigated by troopers in Schuylkill County:
• On April 20 at 11:44 a.m. troopers responded to a residence along Ferndale Road in New Philadelphia for a report of fraud/theft. A 90-year-old woman had been scammed out of $9,780. The investigation is continuing.
• On April 13 at 5:16 a.m. troopers responded to 127 W. Jardin St., in Shenandoah, for a report of a theft. A female told troopers she purchased a washer and dryer, both older model white Samsungs. They were placed on her front porch. Sometime between April 10 and 13 the two items were stolen. Total value of the missing items was set at $1,000.
• Troopers are investigating an incident of scattering rubbish along the Burm Road near Locust Lake State Park, in Ryan Township. Troopers were alerted to the situation on April 26 at 12:56 p.m. by Pennsylvania Department of Transportation employees.
• On April 23 at 1 p.m. police responded to Reynolds Road in Walker Township for a person reported under the influence of a controlled substance. Troopers determined that Mark Scheitrum, 35, of Tamaqua, got into an argument with a 65-year-old man from Tamaqua, and began to throw rocks and a rifle at his vehicle. Scheitrum is a felon and is not allowed to possess a firearm. He was arraigned on charges of possession of a firearm prohibited, possession of a weapon, criminal mischief and harassment by on-call District Judge Anthony Kilker of Shenandoah. He was unable to post $15,000 straight cash bail and committed to the county prison in Pottsville.
• On April 16 at 4:06 a.m. troopers responded to a domestic dispute along East Grant Street in McAdoo. It was determined that Christopher Barachie, 40, of McAdoo, threatened and assaulted a 37-year-old woman from McAdoo and the fled the scene. A warrant was secured for his arrest and he was later taken into custody. He was charged with terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment. He was arraigned before on-call District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua, and initially committed to the county prison on $10,000 percentage bail. He later posted $1,000 bail and was released.
• On April 25 at 10:32 p.m. troopers were called to South 11th Street in Ashland, to investigate a criminal mischief. It was determined that Robert Felty, 49, of Harrisburg, and a man from Ashland got into a verbal altercation. The incident escalated when the other man retreated to the residence stated above. Felty then became irate and struck the outside door to the residence with an ax multiple times, causing an estimated $1,500 in damages. He ran from the scene before police arrived. Police said charges would be filed.
• On April 16 at 11:29 p.m. troopers responded to Indian Run Road in East Brunswick Township for an argument that turned physical. It was determined that a 40-year-old man from New Ringgold, who troopers declined to identify, had cause injuries to a 14-year-old girl from Orwigsburg.
The suspect was arraigned before a district judge on simple assault and related charges and released on $10,000 unsecured bail.
