– Lehighton opened Pocono Mountain League play with a 9-3 win over Kunkletown. The winners took a first inning lead and never looked back after Denny Rehrig blasted a round tripper with two men aboard. George Harris, a Lehighton High grad now playing for Moravian College, tossed a four-hitter, striking out 11 and walking six to get the mound decision. Danny Kunkle and Mike Willingham had two hits each to pace the Lehighton attack.
