Local Roundup: Results from May 6
Jim Thorpe posted seven firsts at its Olympian Invite on Friday.
Northwestern and Northern Lehigh also registered a first at the annual event, which took place in rainy conditions before eventually being stopped. In all, 12 schools participated in the meet.
The seven wins by the Olympians came from different athletes, with the girls team accounting for four of them and the boys gaining three.
Thorpe’s Kaila O’Connor took gold in the 100, while Leah Wasko crossed the line first in the 100 hurdles. Katelynn Bos bettered the field in the 1600, with Laura Clarke winning the shot put.
Among the Olympian boys to register wins were Ryan Bailor in the 1600, David Richards in the 110 hurdles, and Rowan Melber in the javelin.
There were two other area firsts, with both of them coming in the pole vault. Northern Lehigh’s Emily Moyer took top honors in the girls competition, while Northwestern’s Cayden Kuhns did the same in boys action.

GIRLS LACROSSE
Pleasant Vy.-Cardinal O’Hara
Pleasant Valley dropped a 17-8 decision to Cardinal O’Hara in its regular-season finale.
Alexandra Bush had five goals, 11 draw controls, two caused turnovers and three ground balls for the Bears, who trailed 9-4 at the half.
PV also received a pair of goals, one assist, three draw controls, three ground balls and a caused turnover from Brielle McInaw. Devon Bush chipped in with a goal, an assist, a draw control and a caused turnover.
Ellie Miller paced the winners with five goals, while Lexi Culp scored four times.
The loss dropped Pleasant Valley’s record to 13-5. The Bears return to action Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. when they take on Easton in the EPC semifinals at Northampton.
