Palmerton Police log

During the month of March, Palmerton Police Department responded to 170 calls for service. The following people were charged:

• Alexis Santiago Pena Jr., 24, Allentown, charged with statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, and two counts of corruption of minors, for an incident Feb. 21 in the 500 block of Mauch Chunk Road.

• Bryan Smale, 58, Palmerton, one count each of possession of a controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia, for an incident that occurred March 1 at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Mauch Chunk Road.

• Joshua Ryder, 33, Palmerton, three counts of driving under the influence, for an incident that occurred March 2 at the intersection of Franklin Avenue and Mauch Chunk Road.

• Kevin Steigerwalt, 59, Coplay, one count each of driving under the influence; possession of a controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia, along with four summary traffic violations.

• Brenden Dietterich, 46, Palmerton, one count each of endangering the welfare of children; and recklessly endangering another person, for an incident that occurred March 8 in the 300 block of Delaware Avenue.

• Ryan Dillman, 33, Palmerton, one count each of possession of a controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia, for an incident that occurred March 8 in the 600 block of Delaware Avenue.

• Tiffany Hittner, 39, Palmerton, one count each of persistent disorderly conduct; possession of drug paraphernalia; and harassment, for an incident that occurred March 16 in the 700 block of Edgemont Avenue.

• In addition, Palmerton Police issued 26 traffic citations: eight for speeding, seven for obedience to traffic control devices, three for expired inspection, and one each for expired registration, driving without a license, driving with a suspended license, failure to yield to pedestrians, overtaking on the left, careless driving, general lighting requirements, and double parking in a school zone; 15 traffic violation warnings, and five nontraffic citations.
