Track and Field Roundup: Results from May 3

The Palmerton boys, and Northwestern and Northern Lehigh girls, earned sweeps in Colonial League action on Tuesday.

Northwestern

The Northwestern girls and Palmerton boys both earned sweeps in a Colonial League tri-meet.

Faith Yost posted two individual wins for the Tigers, who took two of the relays and improved their league record to 9-2.

The Blue Bombers received three firsts from Nataly Walters (100, long jump, triple jump), including an area best this season of 36-8 in the triple jump, and three more from Emma Martinez in the 800, 1600 and 3200.

In the boys meet, Harrison Dailey (long jump, pole vault) posted two victories to lead the Palmerton sweep. The two wins give the Bombers a 9-2 CL mark.

The Tigers received a pair of individual firsts from Joshua Heilman (100, 400) and Samuel Bower (1600, 3200).

Catasauqua-Bangor-NL

Northern Lehigh’s girls earned a sweep in a Colonial League sweep against Catasauqua and Bangor.

The Bulldogs posted a 79-63 win over Catasauqua, and an 82-65 victory over Bangor.

Mikayla Gordon (400), Katelyn Barthold (1600), Kendall Snyder (triple jump), Zoe Hathaway (high jump) and Emily Moyer (pole vault) all posted victories in the girls’ meet for Northern Lehigh.

In the boys’ meet, the Bulldogs fell 72-64 to the Roughies, and 82-56 to the Slaters.

Jared Thomason won the 800 and 1600 for Northern Lehigh. Trevor Amorim (200), Chase Jones (110H) and Matt Frame (shot put) also posted wins.

Stroudsburg-Pleasant Vy.

Stroudsburg swept Pleasant Valley in an Eastern Pennsylvania Conference meet.

The Mounties rolled to a 125 1/2-24 1/2 win in the boys’ contest, and secured a 78-72 victory in the girls’ meet.

Reese Ruggiero posted wins in the high jump, long jump and triple jump for the Bears. De’Nair Drew swept the 100 and 300 hurdles. Drew and Ruggiero, along with Nyia Moon and Mattison Hyland, also won the 1600 relay.

Tyler Akob won the 800 and 1600 for the PV boys.
