Third annual Wine on the River set for Saturday
It’s a chance to sample a variety of wines, shop, and listen to music.
All of that and more will be available at the Lehighton Downtown Partnership’s third annual Wine on the River.
Hosted at the Lehighton Outdoor Center, the event will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.
There will be wineries, food trucks, crafters and vendors. Visitors are encouraged to bring their lounge chairs.
All tickets come with a complimentary wine glass for taste testing, and a custom wine check.
The event is open to those age 21-and-over only.
Wineries expected to attend include Benigna’s Creek Vineyard & Winery; Blue Mountain Winery; Bouchette Vineyards; Capra Collina Vineyard; Cellar Beast Winehouse; Clever Girl Winery; Hidden Creek Winery; King Cole Winery; Lucchi Family Wine Cellars; RAW Winery; Sleepy Cat Urban Winery; Talerico’s Tropical Winery; and Wine & More on 1st.
Music this year will see performances from bands such as The Left Edge and Lehighton’s very own Layne “Doc” Roberts from Colossal Radio.
With a huge variety of food trucks and sweets, there figures to be something for everyone, according to Lehighton Main Street Manager Bambi Elsasser.
“Shop and visit our vendors in between your tastings,” Elsasser said. “We will have a total of 64 vendors.”
Elsasser said that in between tastings, guests can enjoy visiting and shopping with the local crafters and vendors.
She said those who do not wish to carry their purchases may check them with their unique wine check operation.
Elsasser said new this year is Stuff the Jeep, as the LDP has a community participation recycling program in which it’s collecting plastic film (grocery bags, bread bags, Ziplock bags, shrink wrap, plastic envelopes, bubble wrap, etc.) to earn a Trex bench.
“If we can collect 500 pounds of plastic film, Trex will donate a bench to our group to be placed in our downtown area,” she said. “So let’s Stuff the Jeep with plastic film.”
Tickets may be purchased in advance at DiscoverLehighton.com. All advance ticket sales will go into a drawing for a basket of wine filled with a bottle of wine from each of the 13 wineries in attendance.
