Local Roundup: Results from April 28
Palmerton’s baseball team secured a spot in the postseason with a victory on Thursday.
Pleasant Valley’s boys and girls also earned a sweep in track and field action. The Bears also posted victories in softball and girls lacrosse action.
BASEBALL
Wilson-Palmerton
A late rally lifted Palmerton to a 4-1 Colonial League victory over Wilson.
The Bombers only managed two hits, but capitalized on miscues to push across three runs in the sixth inning to take the lead.
Leadoff hitter Trey Sterling paced the Bombers (10-5, 8-5) with a single, a walk and an RBI, while Daniel Lucykanish added a single, walk and a run scored.
Chase Reph – and courtesy runners Ty Sander and Dan Rumfield – each scored a run for Palmerton, which is currently third in Class 3A.
The Warriors fell to 5-8 overall, and 4-7 in the league.

Wallenpaupack-Pleasant Vy.
Wallenpaupack rolled to a 23-9 non-league victory over Pleasant Valley.
The Buckhorns pounded out 23 hits - including three home runs - highlighted by Wyatt Peifer’s grand slam in the seventh inning.
Jordan Santiago added the other two homers for the visitors with a two-run blast and a solo shot.
Dominic Payan led the Bears (11-6 overall) with a 4-for-5 performance at the plate, recording four singles and two runs scored.
Nathan Loch (two singles, double, three runs scored), Jack Smale (two singles, a run scored, RBI) and Ryan Kymer (two singles, two RBIs) also had multiple hits for PV.

ES South-Pleasant Valley
It was the heart of the order that produced for Pleasant Valley in a 15-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over East Stroudsburg South.
The Bears’ three, four and five hitters finished 8-for-9 at the plate. Danica Getz, who hits out of the five-hole, led the way with a single, double, two runs scored and four RBIs.
Lydia Borger chipped in with two singles, a double, three runs scored and three RBIs for PV (7-7), while cleanup hitter Brianna Pridham added three singles, three runs scored and three RBIs.
Hailey Krock connected for a solo home run in the second inning for the Bears.

Palisades-Northern Lehigh
Kariye Teman tossed a complete game, three-hit shutout as Palisades recorded a 6-0 Colonial League victory over Northern Lehigh.
Teman struck out 13 and only allowed one walk for the Pirates (4-6, 3-6). She also finished with a single, double and a run scored.
Jordyn Hemingway finished with two singles for the Bulldogs (8-6, 4-5). Marissa Maehrer added the other hit in the setback.

Lehighton-Pen Argyl
A three-run third pushed Pen Argyl to a 3-1 non-league win over Lehighton.
The Green Knights (8-4) bunched a single and three doubles together to produce the runs, as Carina Cutane knocked in two runs and Katie Knecht added the other RBI. Kayla Holley earned the win in the circle and recorded 10 strikeouts.
Abbie Miller struck out 14 and didn’t surrender a walk for the Tribe (4-9). Miller also added a double and scored a run on Addison Chavanic’s RBI single. Madyson Bergdahl and Alyssa Myers both posted extra-base hits with doubles.

Defending State champ Tri-Valley remained unbeaten with a 10-0 victory over Tamaqua.
The Bulldogs’ (10-0) Emma Maurer had a big game in the circle and at the plate. Maurer tossed a one-hitter with seven strikeouts and no walks. She added a three-run home run in the first inning.
Lexi Snyder (two singles, a double, two runs scored, three RBIs) and Gianna Poletti (single, double, two runs scored) also contributed with multiple hits.
Hailey Williams was the lone Blue Raider (5-8) to reach base, recording a single.

BOYS LACROSSE
Central Cath.-Northwestern
Defending state champion Allentown Central Catholic pulled away in the second half for a 13-6 victory over Northwestern.
The Tigers trailed 4-3 at half, but the Vikings outscored the hosts 9-3 the rest of the way.
Ben Scandone led Central (10-0) with three goals, while Mike Driscoll added two goals and an assist.
Andrew Collins and Cade Christopher paced the Tigers (8-5), as both finished with two goals. Drew Sabo and Blaine Snyder both added scores, while Austin Sosnovik chipped in with an assist, and Bailen Smargiassi finished with 13 saves.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Bethlehem Cath.-Pleasant Vy.
Alexandra Bush reached another milestone as Pleasant Valley rolled to an 18-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Bethlehem Catholic.
Bush posted her 100th-career assist on the way to five goals and two assists, while Brielle McInaw added five goals and two assists for the Bears (11-3).
Emily Butler added two goals and an assist, and Olivia Iandoli contributed one goal and an assist. Morgan Ryals added two assists.
Devon Bush, Madison Fava, Cecilia Cordova, Logan Keefe and Ashley Palmieri also scored, while Riley Green and Keylee Dugey each recorded assists.
TRACK
Pleasant Valley-PM West
Pleasant Valley swept Pocono Mountain West in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference dual meet action.
The Bears came away with an 85-47 win on the girls’ side, and posted a 76-56 victory in the boys’ competition.
De’Nair Drew and Edward Lauritsen both grabbed a pair of first-place finishes PV. Drew (100H, 300H) swept the hurdles events, while Lauritsen (1600, 3200) swept the distance events.
