Polk event
The Polk Township Parks and Recreation Commission will be hosting a Polk Township Educational Day Sunday at the community walking park on Township Road.
Hours change
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church has announced a change in office hours. Beginning this Sunday, the church office hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Virtual Townhall
The Pleasant Valley School District is hosting a virtual townhall at 7 p.m. Monday. To participate, one must go to the PVSD webinar registration page.
Prayer Shawl
Effort UMC’s Prayer Shawl Ministry group will be meeting from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Great recycling
From Habitat for Humanity, Monroe County, comes word for helping local folks get needed home help and also impacting the use of oil.
Recycling materials and parts from cars helps save 85 million barrels of oil per year from being used to create new parts.
Also being accepted for recycling are trucks, motorcycles, RVs, boats, snowmobiles and even farm and construction equipment, whether running or not.

Blood drive
The American Legion is hosting an American Red Cross blood drive from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. May 5.

Mission auction
Effort UMC has announced its annual Mission Outreach Auction from 6 to 9 p.m. May 7. A viewing of items will be the same day from 5 to 6 p.m.
Members and friends are invited to donate items having at least a $10 value.
Holistic Fair
On May 21, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the West End Volunteer Fire Company in Brodheadsville will host a Spring Healing for the Soul Holistic Fair.
There will be vendors, raffles, refreshments, crystals, oils, books, soap, Tarot and oracle cards. In addition, mini sessions in massage, ear candling, color puncture, spinal exams, lET, Reiki/energy healing, reflexology, card readings, Thai massage, EFT (tapping) and CPH (hands only), will be offered.
Free will offering for mini session will be accepted. All proceeds from the sessions will be donated to the West End Fire Company.

May race/walk
The West End Park and Open Space Commission has announced the eighth annual Dave Fleetwood Memorial Trail Run/Walk at the West End Regional Park, 578 Evergreen Hollow Road in Chestnuthill Township, beginning at 9 a.m., Sunday, May 22.
All proceeds will fund the Dave Fleetwood Memorial Scholarship to recognize a Pleasant Valley High School graduate who exemplifies the outstanding attributes of Mr. Fleetwood.

QOP flea market
June 24 through June 26 is when the annual flea market for Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is being held. It will again include the selling of clothing of all sizes and linens, as well as furniture such as dressers, coffee and end tables and chairs.
