State police at Bethlehem released information on a crash involving multiple motorcycles that occurred on Sunday at 12:42 p.m. along Route 22 eastbound in Hanover Township, Northampton County.
Troopers said an investigation determined that about 40 motorcycles were traveling eastbound, operating in a reckless manner, when five of the bikes crashed. Four of the bike operators were transported to area hospitals for injuries.
A secondary crash occurred when the operator of a Ford Explorer slowed down due to the bike crash and his vehicle was rear-ended by a BMW.
The eastbound lanes were closed until 2:25 p.m. with traffic detoured. The investigation into the crash is continuing.
