Break-ins, burglary investigated

State police at Lehighton reported troopers are investigating break-ins to motor vehicles and a burglary incident.

The vehicle break-ins occurred at a parking lot along Route 912 at Route 115 in Ross Township, Monroe County. Troopers said representatives of Treesmiths Utility Arborists, of Spring Brook, Lackawanna County, reported that bucket trucks owned by the firm and parked in a lot near a Dollar General Store were broken into and items were removed from the trucks. Items such as chain saws and leaf blowers and other type tools were taken. Estimated value of the missing items was set at $3,188. The thefts occurred sometime between March 25 and 28. A total of three trucks were entered.

The burglary occurred at a residence along Mahoning Mountain Road in East Penn Township, Carbon County. Removed from the home were two power battery chargers and tool battery with a total value of $592. There was damage done to drywall and a door totaling $250. The home is owned by a 61-year-old man from Palmerton.
