3-5 inches of snow in forecast

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Wet snow expected is expected with total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches expected.

Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute.

There may be localized higher snow totals of 6 inches or more at the higher elevations above 1500 feet in Monroe County.

Today: Rain, mainly after 4 p.m. High near 48. Northeast wind 5 to 15 mph becoming southeast in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Tonight: Rain before 2 a.m., then rain and snow. Low around 33. East wind 10 to 15 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Tuesday: Rain and snow showers likely before 8 a.m., then a chance of rain showers. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 48. West wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 35. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 54. Northwest wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
