Easter services

Cornerstone Church will have Easter services at 9 and 10:30 a.m. Available at the latter only is child care for nursery and toddler-aged children. Sunday school will be for preschool through sixth grade at 10:30 as well.

Effort UMC will have three services on Easter Sunday. The Sunrise service will be held at 7 a.m. outside, weather permitting. The 8:30 a.m. service will be a traditional service and will be live streamed and the 11 a.m. service will be a traditional service.

McMichaels UMC will have an Easter service at 9:30 a.m.

Middlecreek Christian will have a Sunrise service at 8 a.m., with continental breakfast to follow, and a Easter Sunday morning service at 10:30 a.m.

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church will have two Easter Sunday services, at 8 a.m. and at 11 a.m. There will also be a 3 p.m. Spanish Mass.

Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church will have two Easter Sunday worship services, at 9 and 11 a.m.

Pleasant Valley Presbyterian, Brodheadsville, is having its Easter service at 10 a.m.

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran will have two Easter Sunday services with Holy Communion, at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m.

St. John’s Lutheran, Effort, will have an Easter Service with Communion at 9:30 a.m.

St. Matthew’s UCC will have a 7 a.m. worship service Easter Sunday, followed by breakfast at 8 a.m. and a 9 a.m. worship service which includes Cameron the Camel coming back to teach the story of Easter. Holy Communion will be celebrated.

St. Peter’s UMC will hold its Easter worship service at 10 a.m. following a breakfast which begins at 8:30 a.m. for which there is no set cost, but donations are always appreciated. Breakfast foods include French toast, eggs in a muffin tin, etc. with coffee and juice.

Zion Lutheran will hold its Easter service at 8 and 10:30 a.m.

Youth honored

Our Lady Queen of Peace church youth were recently honored by Bishop Bambera. They include Giovanna Kopchik, Andrew LaFiura, Brian Correia, Tina Onubogu, Emma Martin, Keegan Martin, Kendyl Ramsay, Jocelyn Makara, Joseph Monaco, and Nicholas Lopez DelCastillo.

The award recognizes significant contributions and commitment to the areas of Word, Worship, Service, and Community.

WPWC meeting

The Western Pocono Women’s Club is meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at Effort UMC. The program will be Scrap Booking by Susan Yetter. This month’s donation of diapers, wipes or onesies is for Angel’s Closet which distributes them to families in need.

The club is collecting children’s books for the free book shelves at St. Luke’s and LV Pocono Health Care facilities in Brodheadsville.

Shawl ministry

Effort UMC’s Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Valor PTSD

The Valor-sponsored PTSD Support Group monthly meeting for April at the Legion Post home in Gilbert is 7 p.m. is Tuesday.

Free dinner

Zion Lutheran s hosting its free community dinner, via drive-thru pickup from 5 to 6 p.m. April 20.

Earth Day event

Monroe County Conservation District and Monroe Campus Northampton Community College in Tannersville have announced a 2022 Earth Day Celebration.

It will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 23.

Organizations, businesses and local agencies throughout Monroe County have organized a countywide event to celebrate the conservation successes of the past 20-plus years in Monroe County!

The day includes: musical Entertainment featuring Scotty Crosby, Starboard Sparrows, Earth Song and The Lost Ramblers. There will also be children’s activities and tire amnesty sponsored by The Waste Management Authority, speakers and exhibits highlighting local environmental business, organizations and agencies.

Admission is free.

Turkey dinner

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, will be having a turkey dinner, takeout only, on May 7. Orders are due by April 24. Call Serfass 570-688-5381.

MCCD day camps

Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center offers summer day camps including Get in Touch with Nature for ages 7 to 10, the week of Aug. 1 to 5. Get outside and explore this special place we call home and This camp is very hands on with nature so plan on getting muddy.

Also offered is Adventure Camp for ages 11 to 13, Aug. 1-5. Youth can grab their gear and head out with camp leadership to explore interesting places in the Poconos.

Camps are from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with late pickup for an additional fee.
