State police at Schuylkill Haven
State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following incidents investigated by troopers:
• On March 16-17, a 18-year-old man from Orwigsburg, was contacted by an unknown person from a fake Instagram account. After sexual photographs were exchanged the unknown person extorted the victim using the photographs. The victim sent the person $500 in response to threats made to released the photographs. The investigation is continuing.
• On March 10 at 12:08 p.m. troopers were dispatched to the Giant Market, located off Route 61, in the Cressona Mall, North Manheim Township, for a report of theft involving counterfeit money. On scene troopers were told two men used two counterfeit $100 bills at the store.
• A Schuylkill County man was scammed out of a large amount of money, state police at Schuylkill Haven reported.
Troopers said the victim, a 58-year-old man from Pine Grove, reported he was scammed out of gift cards over the course of four months. Various gift cards were sent totaling about $5,000, with a value of $4,500.
• A Schuylkill fight led to the arrest of two county residents and the hospitalization of a third with injuries.
State police at Schuylkill Haven said the incident occurred on March 18 at 8 p.m. along East Main Street in Tremont.
Troopers responded to a fight in progress possibly involving a knife and gun. On scene it was determined that three men became involved in a fight. Multiple witnesses and the parties involved indicated that a knife and gun were not used in the altercation.
A 18-year-old man from Tremont suffered serious bodily injury and was transported to Geisinger-St. Luke’s Hospital, Orwigsburg. Donovan Reed, 20, and Jonathan Bohr, 21, both of Tremont, were arraigned before on-call District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua. Reed was charged with felony 1 aggravated assault - attempts to cause serious bodily injury or causes injury with extreme indifference, simple assault and a summary offense of harassment - physical contact. Bohr was charged with the same offenses plus strangulation.
Both were committed to the county prison unable to post $10,000 each bail. Bohr has since posted bail.
