Local roundup: Results from April 5
Pleasant Valley posted victories in baseball and girls lacrosse action on Tuesday, while the Lehighton softball and tennis teams also secured wins.
BASEBALL
ES North-Pleasant Vy.
Pleasant Valley’s big first inning led to a 19-4 victory against Eastern Pennsylvania Conference opponent East Stroudsburg North.
Nathan Loch went 3-for-4 for the Bears (5-1), including three RBIs. Jake Gethen knocked in four runs for Pleasant Valley, which scored 12 runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Jack Smale added three RBIs for the Bears, who have won three straight.

Tamaqua-No. Schuylkill
North Schuylkill pulled away for a 4-1 Schuylkill League win against Tamaqua.
Mason Moyer and Mason Ligenza each had a hit for the Blue Raiders (0-3), who took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Lucas Milot and Chase Andrews accounted for Tamaqua’s other two hits on the day.
The Spartans (2-1) tied it in the bottom of the first, and took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the second inning. They added a pair of insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Weatherly-Lincoln LA
Lincoln Leadership Academy scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to walk off with a 9-8 non-league win over Weatherly.
Wreckers’ starter Jack James battled on the mound, surrendering four runs in the second inning, but still went on to strike out 12 and only surrendered two walks in six innings of work. Frankie Willis had a single and three RBIs for Weatherly (0-3), while James helped himself at the plate with a single and two RBIs.
Lincoln Leadership improves to 1-3 this season.

SOFTBALL
Marian-Panther Valley
Marian broke a 2-2 tie with a four-run fifth inning, and added six runs in the sixth in a 12-3 Schuylkill League victory over Panther Valley.
Morgan Kelly picked up the win for the Fillies with 13 strikeouts in the complete-game victory. Jackie Guth had a double and a triple for Marian (3-0).
Mikayla Yuricheck recorded two singles for the Panthers (0-3), while Brenna Beshock had a double and a single. Liz Rex also knocked in two runs during the game.

Lourdes-Jim Thorpe
Jim Thorpe exploded for five runs in the fourth inning to cement a 10-4 win against Lourdes.
The Lady Olympians got home runs from Kristin Pompa, Jada Mahmde and Mara Levins Mahmde and Tara McLean each had multi-hit games in the win.
Jim Thorpe has won three straight games to improve to 3-1.

Pottsville-Lehighton
A three-run sixth inning was the difference for Lehighton in a 3-2 Schuylkill League win over Pottsville.
Mia Snyder got things started for the Indians (2-1 overall, 1-0 SL) in the bottom of the sixth with a two-run single. Snyder later scored on an Addison Chavanic RBI-double.
The Tide (2-3, 0-1) did threaten in the last inning, as Faith Toothaker posted an RBI-double, while Mia Bowers added an RBI-single.
Cheyenne Whiteman and Amy Dwojowski both added extra base hits with doubles, while pitcher Abby Miller recorded two singles.

ES North-Northern Lehigh
Northern Lehigh made the most of a seven-run second inning en route to a 11-1 non-league victory over East Stroudsburg North.
Marisa Maehrer sparked the Bulldogs’ (3-3) second inning with a two-run double, while Skyeler Horack added an RBI-triple.
Cadence Peters (RBI double), Kaitlyn Stock (RBI single), Arabella Heintzelman (RBI bunt single) and Haylie Fenstermaker (sacrifice fly) all helped push across runs in the inning.
Heintzelman (two singles, two runs scored, RBI) and Hayley Thoder (two singles, two run scored, RBI) had multiple hits for Northern Lehigh.

Tamaqua-North Schuylkill
A three-run fifth inning helped North Schuylkill down Tamaqua 5-3 in Schuylkill League action.
The Blue Raiders (0-2, 0-1) took a 1-0 lead in the third, and then tied it up in the fourth inning, but the Spartans made the most of the productive fifth to post the close win in the Schuylkill League opener.
Addison Krall had two singles and an RBI for Tamaqua. Hailey Williams added a triple and an RBI.
North Schuylkill improves to 2-0 (1-0) this season.

GIRLS LACROSSE
Nazareth-Pleasant Valley
Pleasant Valley ran away with a 17-5 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory over Nazareth.
Brielle McInaw sparked the Bears (2-2 overall) with five goals and two assists, while Devon Bush also scored five goals.
Alexandra Bush added four goals and two assists, while Riley Green scored twice in the win.
Madison Fava (goal), Olivia Iandoli (three assists) and Emily Butler (assist) also played well in the victory.
Freedom-Northwestern
Ava Collins had four goals and an assist for Northwestern in an 18-7 loss to Freedom.
Alexis Vennera added two goals for the Tigers (1-4), while Olivia Costa also had a goal.
BOYS LACROSSE
Northwestern-Freedom
Andrew Sabo led Northwestern with four goals in a 20-10 setback to Freedom.
Blaine Snyder also had two goals for the Tigers. Andrew Collins recorded three assists and also tacked on a goal. Cade Christopher also scored a goal for Northwestern.
The Tigers fall to 2-2 on the season.
TENNIS
Notre Dame-ES-Lehighton
Lehighton swept Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg 5-0.
Aaron Miller, Luke Blauch and Daniel Hoppes all took home the singles victories for the Indians (4-3).
The duo of Ben Slaw and Bayto Cokrlija took the first doubles match for the Tribe, while Owen Kovach and Zane Smith took care of the second match.

The Green Knights fall to 1-7 (0-6).
