State police at Schuylkill Haven - Crashes

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers along Schuylkill County roadways.

• A two-vehicle crash was reported at 2:26 p.m. on March 16 along Route 61 in Norwegian Township. Troopers said Jessica A. Grim, 36, of Tamaqua, driving a 2021 Nissan Versa, was stopped for a traffic light with the intersection with Mall Road, while Diane J. Labenski, 57, of Hegins, driving a 2015 Chevrolet Sonic, was northbound in the right lane. Labenski did not stop in time and struck the rear of the Versa with the front of her Sonic.

Grim sustained a suspected minor injury and was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital East, Pottsville. Labenski was not injured.

Troopers cited Labenski for following too closely.

• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 9:50 a.m. on March 16 along New Philadelphia Road in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said William H. Walters, 74, of Mahanoy City, was driving a 1998 Ford F150 southbound and negotiating a left curve in the road when he said he heard a “snap” on the passenger side front tire area which caused him to lose control.

The truck went off the right side of the road and down a steep embankment. Walters was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed.

• Another one-vehicle crash was reported on March 17 at 6:41 a.m. along Route 895 in West Brunswick Township. Troopers said Justin McClure, 34, of Kaska, was driving a 2012 Subaru Impreza westbound when he experienced vehicle failure while negotiating a right hand curve. The vehicle went off the road and into a guide rail.

McClure was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed.

• A one-vehicle crash occurred at 4:07 p.m. on March 15 along West Second Mountain Road in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Catrina R. Carlson, 18, of Orwigsburg, was operating a 2009 Cadillac Escalade westbound when she had to avoid another vehicle which was eastbound. Her vehicle left the road on the north side, spun counterclockwise, onto the south shoulder.

Carlson and a 15-year-old female passenger were not injured. The vehicle was towed.

Carlson was cited for operating a vehicle without official certificate of inspection.

• Police reported investigating a one-vehicle crash on Feb. 18 at 4:49 p.m. and administering naloxone to the driver.

Troopers said the crash occurred in the area of 108 Gold Mine Road in Tremont Township. The victim, who troopers declined to identify, regained consciousness and then was taken by medical helicopter to the Hershey Medical Center. The investigation is continuing.
