Penn State Extension Workshop

The Master Watershed Stewards of Berks and Schuylkill Counties are planning a live stake planting workshop for April 2, from 10 a.m.-noon at Schuylkill Haven Island Park. The rain date will be April 3.

Live stakes are branch cuttings from water-loving trees and shrubs that are planted along streams to stabilize banks, reduce erosion, and filter nutrients.

They are valuable tools to help restore streamside vegetation.

Come learn about what live staking is, why it is important, and how to do it.

This workshop will be hands-on and is geared for the general public and educators. If you have a stream on your property or in your neighborhood that you’d like to improve, this workshop will give you some tools to do so.
