Carbon County Friends of Animals events

The Carbon County Friends of Animals is currently planning three fundraisers. The group operates the cat shelter, located at 77 W. 13th St., Jim Thorpe.

Basket raffle

CCFOA is currently preparing for its three-day basket raffle, to be held April 29, 30 and May 1 at the Orioles Community Center, 475 Orioles Drive, Lehighton.

There will be a large raffle and a special raffle with higher priced items.

Food and other items will be for sale as well.

Doors for the event will be open Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets are not being sold in advance.

The organization asks that you follow CDC guidelines for masking and social distancing during the event.

The group is also collecting donations for this raffle. Any donation, whether it is a raffle item or monetary to defray the cost of food, may be dropped of at the shelter by April 1.

Turkey and beef dinners

CCFOA is currently selling Turkey and Beef Dinner tickets for a drive-through event on May 15 at the shelter.

The event is advance ticket purchases only.

The meal will be provided by A&C Catering. Platters include mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, coleslaw and a roll. The cost is $11 per dinner.

Pickup is at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the shelter.

Free delivery is available if advance arrangements are made.

Easter fundraiser

The center is also taking orders for Leiby’s pies for Easter.

Orders and payment are due by April 2 with delivery taking place on April 13. Checks should be made payable to CCFOA.
