Walks planned

Join naturist Robin Tracey from Tuscarora State Park, Barnesville, Schuylkill County, for a wildflower walk at Swatara State Park on March 25. The trail is 5 miles long and moderate. The trail runs parallel to Swatara Creek.

Participants will be hiking down to the old steel bridge and crossing to make a loop around the back part of the park. Meet in the parking lot on Sand Siding Road, just off Route 443, in Suedberg, at 10:30 a.m. Bring a lunch and water. Dogs are welcome, but must be leashed and get along with other pets and people. On April 5 at 10:30 a.m. the mountain behind Locust Lake State Park will be explored and a visit made to the Silver Creek Fire Tower. This hike is 5 miles long and moderate in difficulty. The pine stands and brush are perfect habitat for birds and other wildlife. Meet at the visitor parking lot at Locust Lake State Park, located before the contact station, at 10:15 a.m. Participants will be traveling to another area to start the hike. Bring a lunch and your dog for a nice relaxing hike in the woods. All pets must be leashed and get along with people and other pets. Shine only.
